All Highland want for Christmas is 20 points

DAVE Carson will set title-challenging Highland the ambitious target of collecting 20 more points before Christmas to crank up the pressure on leaders Biggar.

The Canal Park head coach saw his team take another stride forwards in Cupar on Saturday as they demolished Howe of Fife 69-19.

With Biggar suffering a shock first defeat at home to Peebles, second-placed Highland closed the gap at the top to just four points.

A trip to Preston Lodge, beaten 37-13 in Inverness in September’s league opener, now marks the start of the second round of league fixtures.

Carson and his coaches, having taken stock of progress so far, know the importance of winning matches before the festive break.
