Artificial makes home games a real deal for Inverness Athletic
AN Inverness football club has come home after finally finding a pitch in the city where they can play matches in the North Caledonian League.
Despite their name, Inverness Athletic had previously been forced to play their games at Muir of Ord due to no football fields being available in Inverness.
But an agreement with High Life Highland will see the NCL outfit play their home games at the Inverness Royal Academy 4G Pitches for the remainder of this season and during the 2019/20 campaign.
Since the club was established in 2016 they have played most of their matches in Ross-shire. But chairman Sandy Stephen said they are now in Inverness for the foreseeable future.
“We went to IRA’s 4G pitch to play a game and asked the league if we could stay permanently,” he said.

“It is an Inverness site and we want to play in Inverness.
“We have an agreement with High Life Highland that we can use the facility going forward next season.
“It is massive to have the club back in Inverness.
“Hopefully we can get more supporters along to watch us and build up a bigger fan base.
"Most of our players live in Inverness and want to play locally.”
The club also has plans to eventually build their own ground and create a youth set-up.
