MANAGER Garry Reid has named his Scotland squad that will take on Ireland in the shinty-hurling international in Inverness.

Four Lovat players and one Beauly player have been named in the national team that will play at Bught Park on Saturday, October 20.

Reid whittled down his playing squad from 32 to 20 last weekend and believes he has a team that can beat the Irish.

He said: "The 32 players who were invited to the training sessions made it a very difficult task for the coaching team to select the final 20 players that will face Ireland as I have no doubt that all 32 players could have performed at international level.

"However, in picking the squad it is hoped that we have recognised the players that have performed well for their club over the season and that wearing a Scotland shirt will be a fitting climax to their season.”
