Boxing could pull its punches until 2021





Highland Boxing Academy head coach Liam Foy does not expect a competitive punch to be thrown again this year.

There is no imminent end to the lockdown situation in sight, with two of the major events in HBA’s calendar – the Scottish Open and Lonsdale Box Cup – already called off.

Foy does think it is possible that gyms will reopen and boxers will be back training.

But he does not think there is any chance they will be back competition-ready before 2021 comes around.

“I honestly don’t think we’ll be throwing a punch in competition until 2021”, he insisted.
