HIGHLAND Rugby Club received a special visit from one of their former junior players who is now playing for United Rugby Championship champions Glasgow Warriors.

Jamie Dobie paid a special visit to Canal Park on Sunday as he brought the URC trophy along with him as part of the club’s tour around the country with the trophy.

Dobie, who went to Kirkhill Primary School, before continuing his secondary education at Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh, first got involved in rugby when he was involved with Highland Rugby Club when he was eight.

He has gone on to become an established first team player at Glasgow Warriors and has won six international caps for Scotland. He played in Scotland’s tour of North and South America during this summer.

Dobie was in Inverness on Sunday, two days after he scored a try for Glasgow in their 42-10 win over Benetton Treviso at Scotstoun.

Meanwhile Highland who won their first league match of the season last weekend with a 29-28 victory over Dundee are back in action tomorrow when they head to the Borders to take on Peebles.

Highland 2nd XV take on North Police Scotland at Canal Park with kick-off at 1pm.

Canal Park is also hosting the Caledonia North Bowl clash between Skye and Inverness Craig Dunain with kick off at 3pm.

In Women’s North Region League One, Highland head to Peterhead.
