Charlie Christie open to idea of revisiting Inverness Caley Thistle colts to enter Highland League
Charlie Christie wants to see the Highland League follow the lead of other countries and allow an Inverness Caledonian Thistle colts team, if the club decide to revisit the idea.
The idea was put forward last summer in the wake of Cove Rangers earning promotion to League Two, leaving the Highland League with an odd number of teams.
However, the decision was made to reject a Caley Thistle colts side and instead continue with 17 teams, with one side sitting idle each weekend.
That was disappointing for ICT, who instead loaned 11 players over the course of the season to perennial strugglers Fort William to give their young players experience of senior football.
But Inverness head of youth development Christie says it is a model that has been proven to work on the continent, and has not ruled out another attempt at entering the Highland League in the future.
