CK Interiors on top form to win Inverness Second Division Cup

CK Interiors manager Louis Lockhart says the club has come a long way in a short time after lifting the Inverness and District Football Association’s Division Two Cup.

A 4-1 win over G16 United saw CK Interiors crowned IDFA Division Two Cup winners in their first season in the Inverness amateur ranks.
A 4-1 win over G16 United saw CK Interiors crowned IDFA Division Two Cup winners in their first season in the Inverness amateur ranks.

The 2023 newcomers ensured their first season would end with silverware as they defeated G16 United 4-1 in Ardersier.

Kieran Goddard forced the ball over the line in a goal-mouth scramble at a corner to open the scoring for CK, before Liam Smith added a second from long range shortly afterwards.

G16 pulled one back before half time, but CK were the more clinical of the sides after the restart.

Despite a red card for Liam Smith, Goddard scored his second with an impressive solo goal before Kyle Neil scored directly from a corner to leave no doubt of the end result.

“We’ve come a long way from losing our first few friendlies and feel we will kick on again from this,” manager Lockhart said.

“We’ve got a good squad there and hopefully can keep the majority of those boys together for next season where we’ll look to improve our league performance.

“After the first couple of games, my expectations would have been completely different than they were going into the match.

“We got past the league leaders and a strong Muir of Ord side on the way to the final, so we fancy our chances against anyone in our league on our day.

“It’s a really competitive league, so it’s great to win a trophy in our first season.”
