Clachnacuddin agree immediate deal for Rothes striker Greg Morrison to join the club ahead of Highland League match against Brechin City

Clachancuddin have confirmed the immediate signing of Greg Morrison from Highland League rivals Rothes.

The 26-year-old had already signed a pre-contract agreement with the Lilywhites earlier this month, but had revealed talks were ongoing about an earlier move to Grant Street Park.

Clach have now confirmed that a deal has been struck with Rothes that will see Morrison immediately move to the Highland capital.

As part of it, Robbie Urquhart will move to the Speysiders on a permanent transfer, while Jamie Young will extend his current loan agreement.

Morrison had previously said of the prospective move: “When I spoke to manager Conor Gethins, they have been doing really well compared to previous seasons.

“He told me the structure and the plan going forward and that is something that really appealed to me.

“It is a local team for myself too. The deal ticked all the boxes for me and Clachnacuddin seems to be a good place for me right now.

“I got the feeling that Clachnacuddin were a team that never belonged at the bottom of the Highland League.

“Their achievements this season, such as winning at Brora Rangers and getting to the North of Scotland Cup final, it shows they are improving and learning as they are going throughout the season.

“They show they are willing to go after the big teams, they don’t appear to be settling for less. Their determination to progress and get better aligns with what I want to do on a personal level.

“I am looking forward to it and there is a feel good factor about the place, they are doing well in the league.”

Morrison could make his debut for the Lilywhites against Brechin City this weekend.
