Inverness club Clachnacuddin will be fearless when they face Highland League title challengers Brechin City

Manager Conor Gethins says Clachnacuddin will go down to Brechin City fearless and look to take something from Glebe Park in the Highland League clash on Saturday.

The Lilywhites head to Angus to take on a team whose form has become inconsistent in recent weeks. Brechin lost their place at the top of the Highland League after only winning one of their last four Highland League matches.

Draws this month to Banks O’Dee, Buckie Thistle and Keith has seen Brechin fall four points behind current table toppers Brora Rangers.

But they could cut the deficit to one point as Brora Rangers face Deveronvale in the Highland League Cup semi final on Saturday.

Clach themselves go into the match in good form following their 3-1 win over Huntly on Wednesday night.

Gethins says they will go into the game confident of picking up more points as they look to not just finishing in fifth but move up even higher.

“We have got to have ambition and we need to go for that top four,” he said.

“We have some tough games coming up but we keep going.

“Regardless of what happens, it has been a good season. You just don’t know but why not? We played them a few weeks and their manager Patrick Clegg said it was the best performance they have had this year.

“We’ll take that free hit and go down fearless, there is no point sitting back and we will have a go.”

Clachnacuddin are now on 48 points, two points shy of their original 50 point target with seven games remaining. They are on course to finish in the top half of the table for the first time in over a decade.

James Anderson and Troy Cooper put Clachnacuddin 2-0 up early in the first half. Angus Grant pulled one back for Huntly on the half hour mark.

Scottie Davidson killed the game off with a strike in injury time for a 3-1 victory.

Gethins wasn’t happy with how Huntly got back into the game, but was pleased with their second half performance.

The first 15 mintues I thought that we were relentless. Then we sat back which is not what I want at all. Fair play to Huntly they kept the ball well and got positivity in areas where they continued to hurt us. They got their goal which really annoyed me. They got it at half time as the last half hour of the first half was not acceptable. Then we came out in the second half and ran over the top of them.
