Inverness Caley Thistle’s former League One relegation rivals Dumbarton secure sale to see historic football club exit administration
A football club that entered administration just weeks after Inverness Caledonian Thistle have confirmed their sale.
Dumbarton slipped below Inverness in the League One table last season when their own administration was announced in November, with their 15-point deduction taking the Caley Jags off the foot of the table.
For a while, it had looked as though it might be a two-horse race to avoid automatic relegation, but Caley Thistle would pull away and even avoid a play-off.
ICT had good news off the pitch before the end of the campaign when Alan Savage was announced as the preferred bidder to take over the club, with it being confirmed in early June that a company voluntary agreement had been reached to see the club exit administration.
In Dumbarton’s case, there was a false dawn in April when an agreed deal to sell the club fell through.
Now, three weeks later, they have finally followed a similar path to Inverness, with joint-administrators Quantuma announcing their sale.

Canadian electronics entrepreneur Mario Lapointe is the new man in charge of The Sons, who - like ICT - will begin the 2025/26 campaign with a five-point deduction as a result of the whole saga, only in their case it will be in League Two.
Quantuma managing director and joint-administrator Ian Wright commented: “So many people have helped to get to this conclusion, but most importantly has been the support of the fans.
“We wish Mario and everyone involved with the club every success for the season ahead and for the longer-term future of the Sons."
