Cornish aiming to maintain unbeaten record
GARY Cornish is looking to keep intact his unbeaten record when he faces Slovakian David Vyletel in the Highland Capital on Friday 11th May.
The Inverness heavyweight, nicknamed the Highlander, has not lost any of his six encounters since turning professional last year.
Having already beaten Zimbabwe's Hastings Rasani in the place of his birth in December, Cornish will be hoping to make it a double in a show at the Drumossie Hotel that also features Inverness welterweight Alastair Chisholm.
"Gary was a huge success at the first-ever professional boxing event in the Highlands in December," said promoter Chris Gilmour.
"Fans turned out in force at that show and proved there’s a real appetite for professional boxing in Inverness.
"However, demand for tickets has been even greater this time around.
"It’s up to Gary to repay the faith shown in him by his hometown supporters by putting on a performance to be proud of against Vyletel."
Chisholm is another aiming to keep his 100 per cent record in his third contest having outpointed Larkhall’s Mark Betts on the December bill.
"Alastair has been very impressive against vastly more experienced opponents in his two fights and is now looking to build on that momentum in front of a hometown audience again," said Gilmour.
Tickets are priced at £1000 for a table of ten or £100 per person and include a champagne reception and three-course dinner. Contact Laura Grant on 0776 969 7899 or e-mail laura@ictst.co.uk for further information.
Gary Cornish is scheduled to be featured on BBC Two tonight in the programme Sport Nation, which starts at 7pm
