The Inverness club will be looking for at least five points at Canal Park and hope that it will be enough to stay in the division on the final day of the season tomorrow.

However, their fate is out of their hands as they need Boroughmuir to lose against Biggar tomorrow.

As things stand, Highland are in the relegation zone on 35 points with Boroughmuir currently safe in seventh on 38 points. Highland require Biggar to beat Boroughmuir and stop them from scoring four tries and earning a losing bonus point.

Highland gave themselves a fighting chance of survival when they picked up all five points in a 43-15 win against Dundee, but with Peebles also still having an opportunity to avoid relegation, it is expected to be a pulsating encounter at Canal Park tomorrow.

Head coach Dave Carson says his players gave the club a fighting chance of staying in National One last weekend, and does not expect them to be concerned with the scoreline at Boroughmuir as they will only be concentrating on the task at hand of getting four tries and a victory.

He hopes that will be good enough to remain in National One next season.

He said: “The only job we can do is get five points against Peebles and put on a good display in the last game of the season.

He said: “Whatever happens will happen, it is out of our hands and we will have to accept what happens down at Boroughmuir.

“What will be, will be and we will look the finish the season on a high. We just have to beat Peebles with a bonus point. If we don’t do our job, then we know it is over anyway.”

Calum Macpherson will miss the final league game of the season after suffering a groin injury. But Highland will welcome back Roddy Thomson with Andriu Muritoki and Junior Bulumakau also set to return.
