Former Inverness Caley Thistle defender Morgan Boyes signs for St Johnstone after Perth club’s relegation from Scottish Premiership is confirmed

Former Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Morgan Boyes has a new club in Scotland after signing for St Johnstone.

The 24-year-old spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan in the Highland capital from Livingston, making 32 appearances across all competitions and scoring three times, before signing permanently for Greenock Morton last season.

Now, he will be moving on again to join the Perth Saints, who are dropping into the Championship after finishing bottom of the Premiership table, on a two-year contract.

The former Wales youth international told St Johnstone’s media team: “As soon as the gaffer made the call and explained the plan, I was really excited.

“I have played against St Johnstone a few times. It was never a nice feeling going there as an away team – and that is how we want it now.

“I’m looking forward to being part of the home team and having the fans on our side.

“I can’t wait to get going. I had an eye on the Premier Sports Cup draw on my holiday to see who we got.

“It’s going to be a quick turnaround and hopefully we can get plenty more season tickets sold by then.”
