The son of Liverpool legend Jamie, Carragher spent the second half of last season on loan in the Highland capital under Duncan Ferguson, making 20 appearances across all competitions before returning to parent club Wigan Athletic last summer.

Now, he is in line to win a first senior international cap – but not for England, as he has switched international alliegances.

Instead, he qualifies for Malta through his great-grandfather, and having recently acquired Maltese citizenship he has been called up for their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Malta will host Finland next week before travelling to Poland, with Carragher in line to debut.
