Inverness Caledonian Thistle missed the chance to move closer getting out of the relegation zone as they lost 3-2 to Queen of the South in Dumfries.
Adam Brooks, who was made redundant by Caley Thistle in October after the club went into administration and joined Queen of the South in November, scored twice against his former club at Palmerston on Tuesday night.

Inverness were looking to close the gap on Annan Athletic in eighth place to one point after defeating them 3-0 at Galabank on Saturday.
They got off to a great start as they took the lead after just nine minutes when Alfie Bavidge, on loan from Aberdeen, scored his third goal in three games.
He linked up with his team-mate Alfie Stewart, who is also on loan from Aberdeen, to connect with his low cross which he drove into the net.
But the lead only lasted two minutes when Brooks scored the equaliser.
Harry Cochrane’s original strike fell into the path of Brooks in the box and he fired past Musa Dibaga.
Brooks then gave Queen of the South the lead eight minutes into the second half. He got on to the end of a pass before firing past Dibaga to give the Doonhammers the lead.
Inverness drew level in the 74th minute when Keith Bray popped with up with the equaliser. Paul Allan’s free kick was initially met by Danny Devine whose effort was kept out by Ross Stewart. But Bray was the first to the rebound to make it 2-2.
But Queen of the South regained the lead with 11 minutes remaining when Jordan Allan, who came on as a substitute for Brooks, scored almost immediately from coming on to the pitch.
The defeat means Inverness remain on 16 points in ninth place in the relegation play-off spot and four points behind Annan in eighth.
Inverness are on the road again on Saturday when they travel to Alloa Athletic.
