Gess who is a new Scottish boxing champion?

Highland Boxing Academy athlete Adian Gess secured the biggest title win of his career when he became Scottish Intermediate Light Welterweight Champion.

The Inverness athlete showed his class against tricky southpaw fighter Matthew MacDonald from Irvine to claim the belt.

The 23-year-old had a flawless first round scoring with a variety of shots and defensively shutting out MacDonald who seemed weary of every attack.

The second and third rounds were closer as the Irvine boxer tried to come back into the contest after conceding the opening round.

But Gess stayed with the Irvine boxer shot for shot and secured the title on a 3-2 split decision.
