Inverness brothers Aidan and Ciaran Lennan win another batch of medals at GB Grandslam kickboxing competition in Bath

Two young brothers have once again returned from a kickboxing competition with a strong haul of medals.

Aidan (15) and Ciaran (12) Lennan have competed all across the UK and beyond, earning bagfuls of trophies and titles in the process.

The youngsters, who train at both Highland Martial Arts Centre in Inverness and Wolfpack Martial Arts in Edinburgh, most recently travelled to Bath to compete in the GB Grandslam competition.

Elder brother Aidan competed in six categories across the junior male 15-18 and senior male categories at under-63kg.

Aidan (15) and Ciaran (12) Lennan took a total of eight medals home between them from the GB Grandslam competition.

In five of them, he won gold medals. The 15-year-old came out on top in the point fighting, light contact and kick light junior male categories, as well as the senior light contact and kick light competitions.

He also made it into the senior points final, but withdrew due to an ankle injury and had to settle for bronze.

Younger brother Ciaran entered three categories in the older cadets 12-15 under-42kg competition.

He came away with medals in two of them, winning silver in kick light and bronze in light contact.

“I really felt the preparations for this event were on the money,” Aidan wrote on social media.

“From getting the body beat up at HMAC Inverness, pushed to an inch of my lung capacity and physical limits at the Highland Elite Sports Academy, or my mind fried at Wolfpack, I really felt great all weekend.

“For me it was a great opportunity to test myself in the senior male categories – a must for growth.”

Ciaran added on his own social media: “Not my best weekend, but the talent on those mats was unreal.”

Aidan’s ankle injury was not as bad as first feared, and he should be fine to return to action straight away.

Both youngsters are due to return to action at the WKC Scottish Championships this weekend at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow.
