Inverness based ice skaters at Moray Figure Skating Club impress at British Ice Skating National Open in Sheffield

Moray Figure Skating Club and Academy celebrated major success in Yorkshire.

At the British Ice Skating National Open in Sheffield Zack Crowley won gold in the basic novice event with an impressive 28 points whilst David Anderson also won gold gold in the level three competition with 27.88.

Both skaters performed an impressive array of double jumps. Louise McMann and Abby Macleman also gave great performances in their events.

The the team scooped more medals in the national Skate Edinburgh event.

In her national debut Layla Hill hit gold in the beginner ladies competition in a large field of 22 skaters from across the UK with an impressive score of 17.75.

Teammate Chloe Sutherland was just behind, scooping silver and also competing nationally for the first time.

In the same competition Team Moray member Emily Wright just missed out on bronze by a tiny margin.

Teammate Charlotte Wright just missed out on a medal in the Junior Ladies Short Program competition but then won silver in the Junior Ladies Free Skating, landing two double lutzes and an impressive double-double-double combination jump.

Charlotte was selected to represent Great Britain at a major international event in Italy after an impressive showing at the British championships.

Mhairi Manson won bronze in her event amongst a field of 20 skaters from around the country, whilst Louise McMann narrowly missed out on a medal position in the basic novice competition against 21 other skaters.

Miley Buchan also came within a whisker of a medal, placing fourth out 20 skaters, and her high score has now qualified her to compete at basic novice level.
