Inverness Caley Thistle ‘didn’t do the basics’ in defeat to Kelty Hearts, admits head coach Scott Kellacher, with goalkeeper Musa Dibaga to be assessed after hamstring injury

Inverness Caledonian Thistle head coach Scott Kellacher insists his side are better than their performance against Kelty Hearts showed.

The Caley Jags lost 2-0 on home turf to Kelty, who saw Luke McCarvel and Robert Cole find the net.

Both goals came as a result of counter attacks, and although Inverness seemed to have the better of possession and territory they did not have that creative spark that could create chances to score often enough.

"It was really disappointing, I expected more from us today,” Kellacher said after the match.

Scott Kellacher was left frustrated by the drop off in Caley Thistle's performance level against Kelty Hearts.

"We didn't start well, and we didn't work anywhere near heard enough like we did when we won at Cove last weekend.

"There are no excuses for that. We might not play well, or some things don't come off in play, but we need to work much harder.

"Kelty sat in and tried to hit us on the counter. It can be a frustrating game when teams sit in like that, and we tried to break them down but we have to be patient.

"I wanted to get the ball wide and get crosses into the box and shots at goal, but when you have 10 men behind the ball, it is really hard at times.

"That's not me looking for excuses. They hit us on the counter and scored two goals for the win. That's really disappointing.

"I know Annan lost, but we can't keep looking over our shoulders. We can't be relying on other results, it is still in our hands, and we need to take control of that.

"We need to win our home games, there is no getting away from it, but we didn’t do the basics right.”

Adding injury to insult, goalkeeper Musa Dibaga was forced off at half time with a hamstring issue, but overall Kellacher felt that his side simply did not meet the required standard to get a result.

The shot-stopper had already made two important saves in the first half before going off, and Kellacher says he will be assessed in the coming days.

"Musa has pulled his hamstring – there is no way he could have carried on,” Kellacher added.

"We had to put young Szymon Rebilas in goals and it was a big ask for the kid. We will see what the physio says about Musa.”
