Billy Mckay put Inverness in front early in the second half but Sam Fisher scored in the third minute of injury time to rescue a draw for the hosts at Ochil View.
Inverness are now only one point ahead of Annan Athletic in ninth who thrashed Arbroath 5-1 at Galabank to keep their hopes of avoiding a relegation play-off alive.
Inverness have two matches left in the regular season, next weekend they host champions Arbroath at the Caledonian Stadium with the final game of the regular season against Montrose at Links Park on Saturday, May 3.
Inverness were looking to bounce back from their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Kelty Hearts at the Caledonian Stadium last weekend.
They did give a start to goalkeeper Marcus Gill who arrived on loan from Celtic on an emergency loan deal.
His deal was agreed after there is still doubt if Musa Dibaga will return to action this season as the club await results from a scan for his hamstring injury.
The last time the two teams met, Inverness produced one of their best performances of the season to beat Stenhousemuir 4-1 at the Caledonian Stadium.
The first half saw very few incidents of note as both teams struggled to get to grips with the game.
There were few chances in the first half but Inverness came close in the 25th minute when Adam Mackinnon saw his shot from the edge of the box go inches past the post.
However, Billy Mckay gave Inverness the lead in the 56th minute and he ran on to a throughball and fired a thunderous effort into the top corner.
Inverness looked like holding out for victory but Fisher scored in the 93rd minute to end the game in a draw.
