Inverness Caledonian Thistle confirm it is scrapping senior role at club following resignation of John Robertson
INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle are scrapping its sporting director role after John Robertson announced he was standing down from the position and leaving the club.
Club director Scott Young confirmed at the Inverness Caledonian Thistle Supporters Trust meeting yesterday that Robertson would not be replaced and the role was being axed.
Robertson announced earlier this week that he was leaving Inverness Caledonian Thistle to pursue other opportunities.
Robertson was appointed sporting director at the club in June 2021 and was given the position four months after being granted a leave of absence as Caley Thistle boss in February 2021 due to a family bereavement.
Young confirmed the news that they would not be hiring a new sporting director, when he spoke at the Inverness Caledonian Thistle Supporters Trust meeting held at the Innes Bar in Inverness on Saturday.

George Moodie, who was one of the Trust committee members who were chairing the meeting, says it was an understandable decision by the club to axe the role.
"Scott confirmed at the meeting that the sporting director role, which John Robertson filled, is not going to be replaced," said Moodie.
"I think it is understandable, it is a cost that the club could put to better use elsewhere."
Club chairman Ross Morrison previously paid tribute to Robertson for the work that he has done as sporting director of the club.
He said he was playing an important part in driving forward the Inverness Caledonian Thistle Community Hub project to redevelop unused grass pitches at Inverness Royal Academy.
Morrison said previously: “John has served the club incredibly well over a number of years, both as a successful manager and more recently as sporting director.
"His football achievements here in the Highlands are outlined below and his astute transfer dealings brought in significant funds across his time in charge and throughout that period he was always a brilliant ambassador for the club.
"His drive to establish the new 10 acre Hub for the ICT Community Trust working with Highland Council, Sport Scotland and the SFA and his input into accessing six figure grants for our community trust in particular has gone unseen by almost everyone out with the football club.
"We wish him well in his future endeavours and he will always be welcome at the Caledonian Stadium.”
The news was announced at the Inverness Caledonian Thistle Supporters Trust meeting which was held for the second time.
The meeting took place three hours before Inverness Caledonian Thistle defeated Ayr United 3-1 at the Caledonian Stadium.
"The victory took Inverness out of the relegation zone into eight place in the table."
Supporters had the opportunity to voice their concerns about the club director to Young who was answering questions on behalf of the club.
Moodie says the Trust was pleased with the turnout and is looking for more fans to join the board by getting in touch via their website.
Compared to the last meeting, it was much more positive on Saturday, probably given to the results by the team on the pitch.
"We still have a long way to go to get down to matters off the pitch.
"But the tone and feedback from meeting was of a more positive light of the club that our at our first meeting.
"Scott came along and answered the questions the best he could which was well received by everyone in the room."
