Inverness Caledonian Thistle friendly with Nairn County to be played behind closed doors at alternative venue as match will no longer take place at Station Park
INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle will now play Nairn County behind closed doors in their friendly match tonight after Station Park failed a pitch inspection.
The two clubs will face each other at an alternative venue with no access to fans after no longer being able to play the match at the Highland League ground on Tuesday night.
The match was due to take place at Station Park at 7.30pm, but freezing temperatures during the early hours of Monday morning meant the pitch at Station Park was frozen yesterday. A pitch inspection took place today and the surface was still deemed unplayable for tonight’s game.
Nairn County have managed just one competitive 90 minutes since previous manager Ross Tokely left the club on January 18 after a 5-1 home defeat to Forres Mechanics.
After beating Lossiemouth 3-1 in caretaker Brian MacLeod’s first game in charge, Nairn attempted to line up a friendly against juniors Dufftown only for the North Region Championship outfit to land a rearranged cup tie.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s scheduled League One match against Stenhousemuir was postponed last weekend due to a frozen pitch at the Caledonian Stadium.
They return to action on Saturday as they travel to face Kelty Hearts in League One.
