Inverness Craig Dunain win hospitality trip to Murrayfield for Scotland’s Six Nations opener against Italy before returning to action in National Shield

Players from Inverness Craig Dunain had a weekend to remember as they took in Scotland’s opening match of the 2025 Six Nations before returning to action themselves in the National Shield.

A contingent visited the hospitality suites at Murrayfield on Saturday to watch Scotland win 31-19 to get their Six Nations campaign off to the perfect start.

There, they received a tour of the changing rooms and met luminaries from both sides including Ben White, George Brown, Finn Russell, Sergio Parisse and Mirco Bergamasco.

This was all made possible as Craig Dunain had won a competition, alongside Aberdeen Taexali.

Much as they enjoyed the experience, though, once the international match ended their focus quickly turned back to business at hand in the form of their own game against Greenock Wanderers on Sunday.

Already going in with a threadbare squad of just 15, injuries took their toll throughout the clash.

That meant Craig Dunain were at a disadvantage for the majority of the contest, and Greenock took full advantage on the scoreboard.

By the time the match was called five minutes early due to ICD being reduced to 11 players, it was 92-5 to the home side.

Club captain Kayleigh Rose said: “We went down as a team of 15 to play against a very well drilled Greenock team of 22.

"We quickly dropped players due to injury and had a hard fought battle. The game was mostly played in our own half but we did manage to make them work for most of their tries pushing back as much as we could.

"We’ve taken learning points from the game which we will work on before playing Strathmore in two weeks.

“I’m proud to be part of ICD and proud of each woman on the pitch at the weekend."

Also playing their opening match in the competition were Highland, who went on the road to Strathmore and ran out 33-24 winners.
