Elgin City loan is chance for Mackay to shine, says Caley Thistle manager John Robertson
John Robertson believes that Daniel Mackay’s loan move to Elgin City is a great opportunity for the youngster to establish himself on a weekly basis.
Mackay moved along the A96 to Borough Briggs last week, along with goalkeeper Daniel Hoban, in a loan switch until January.
The 18-year-old burst on to the scene two years ago, becoming Caley Thistle’s youngest-ever scorer, but injuries have curtailed his time on the pitch last season and into the current campaign.
He had to watch from the sidelines as Inverness brought the likes of Miles Storey and Mitch Curry to the club over the summer in his position, so after talking things over with Robertson he made the temporary move to Elgin.
“We had a good chat with Daniel Mackay, we see it as a very positive thing for him,” Robertson explained.
“Elgin enquired about him, and we had a chat with Dan and his father about what we thought was right.
“He played 85 minutes last Saturday, in a tough league, and it will be good for him to play in a team that are playing well."
