Loch Ness FC goes viral after Match of the Day retweets images of new kit for the 2020/21 North Caledonian League season
An Inverness amateur football team has gone viral after their new kit after being featured by the BBC.
Loch Ness FC will be a new addition to the North Caledonian League for the 2020/21 season, and over the last week unveiled a new black and gold home shirt, and white and gold away shirt.
They could not have imagined what came next, which was that their tweet got picked up and shared by the official Match of the Day account, which has nearly three million followers.
That brought the kit to the attention of the wider country, boosted even more by an appearance on BBC Breakfast yesterday morning.
Loch Ness FC have tried to capitalise on their bonus reach by campaigning for a new sponsor, using the hashtag #LochNessSponsor.
An announcement on whose logo will adorn the front of the shirts that have captured thousands of people's imaginations is expected in the coming days.
