Lovat trio called up for Scotland squad

The countdown to next Saturday’s Shinty-Hurling international against Ireland gathered momentum in midweek when Scotland manager Garry Reid named a final pool of 20 players who will take to the field at Bught Park in Inverness.

There were few surprises when the squad - pared down from an original group of 32 - was announced although last season’s Marine Harvest Player of the Year Andrew King’s omission raised a few eyebrows.

Missing through injury is Oban Camanachd’s Daniel Cameron and Kinlochshiel’s Keith MacRae. Glenurquhart’s Fraser Heath, part of the original group, failed to make the final selection.

While Reid had the unenviable task of breaking disappointing news to 12 of his original squad, Lovat defender Daniel Grieve was delighted to have made the cut.
