Motherwell trip awaits winners of Caley Thistle v Stirling Albion replay

CALEY Thistle or battling Stirling Albion will face Ladbrokes Premiership hosts Motherwell in the last eight of the William Hill Scottish Cup following this evening's draw.

The holders from the Highland capital had to settle for a goalless draw at Forthbank on Saturday when they failed to find a way past their battling League Two opponents.

They will have to do it all again next Tuesday night in the replay at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.

Inverness CT, who beat Falkirk 2-1 in last May's final, will have to up their game but will be strong favourites to see off Stirling at the second attempt under the guidance of manager John Hughes.

In-form Motherwell, who have won four of their last five games, made it through to tonight's draw after beating Highland League opponents Cove Rangers 5-0 at the weekend.
Ross County, who will replay against League One visitors Dunfermline Athletic tomorrow night following the weekend's 2-2 draw in Fife, have been paired against Linlithgow Rose or Forfar Athletic should they defeat the Pars.

League One strugglers Forfar were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw at East Super League junior side Rose on Saturday.

The Staggies, who face Celtic on January 31 at Hampden in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals, crashed out at this stage of the Scottish Cup last year when they were beaten 2-1 by St Johnstone in Perth.

Eye-catching ties included Hearts v Hibs in the Edinburgh derby, Scottish champions and trophy favourites Celtic being drawn away to East Kilbride or Lothian Thistle and Rangers hosting Kilmarnock in an all-Premiership tussle at Ibrox.

Teams were plucked out of the tea-time draw by Rangers legend Brian Laudrup and PDC World darts champion Gary Anderson, who recently retained his title at the Alexandra Palace.

The full fifth round draw is: Motherwell v Caley Thistle or Stirling Albion, East Kilbride or Lothian Thistle v Celtic, Dundee United v Raith Rovers, Ross County or Dunfermline Athletic v Forfar Athletic or Linlithgow Rose, Rangers v Kilmarnock, Annan Athletic v Morton, Dumbarton v Dundee or Falkirk, Hearts v Hibernian.

Ties are set for the weekend of February 6/7.
