JOE Chalmers believes Caley Thistle’s multi-taskers are demonstrating the value of versatility in the Championship title race.

Having reverted to his old left-back role in Saturday’s win away to Partick Thistle, Chalmers joined the ranks of team-mates who have shifted with apparent ease between various on-field roles.

Liam Polworth has fulfilled deep, advanced and wide midfield remits, while Caley Thistle’s natural wide players frequently flit between flanks.

Chalmers, since a shaky early spell at full-back last season after leaving Motherwell, has performed with distinction in a new central midfield role.

Brad Mckay, similarly, has been impressive in central defence, but also shown capable of marauding runs and defensive solidity at right-back.
