Macleod has been in temporary charge of Nairn since January when former boss Ross Tokely resigned as manager after a disappointing campaign.

Nairn County have been inviting applications for the position, with it strongly rumoured the club will make an appointment before the end of the season.

Macleod says he couldn’t confirm when a new man will be appointed in charge, but is committed to act as interim manager until the position has been filled.

He said: “I expect to still be in charge for Tuesday night, but I don’t know what to expect for the weekend.

“I have not heard anything about the manager’s position as the club continue to go through the process.

“I have just been told to take each game as it comes and we will see what happens at the weekend.”

County picked up their first win in six matches as they defeated Huntly 2-1 at Station Park. It was their first win in the Highland League since they defeated Lossiemouth 3-1 on Saturday, February 1 and had only picked up two points from their previous five games.

In Saturday’s win, Nairn County took the lead after 11 minutes when they were awarded a penalty and Ben Barron made no mistake as his shot beat goalkeeper Calum Brodie to find the net.

However, Huntly equalised seven minutes before half time when Brodie Allen scored as both teams went into the break level at 1-1.

Nairn retook the lead midway through the second half with Calum Mackay scoring what proved to be the winner.

Both teams had chances to fire the net but the hosts held on for all three points. The win means Nairn County are in 12th place in the league with on 33 points with six games remaining. Thanks to a better goal difference, a draw for Nairn tonight will be good enough to take the above Turriff United into 11th place.

Macleod was delighted with the performance of his team on Saturday.

“I was really pleased with how we started the game, but we lost a really poor goal.

“But I was pleased with how we got back into it and we managed to see that lead through to the end.”

Nairn will be missing Brodie Watson tonight due to work commitments but Ali Morrison expected to return from a hamstring injury.
