The 21-year-old from Nairn received the award after an incredible 2024 when he won the Silver Medal at The Open at Royal Troon.

Scott received the Silver Medal for being the top amateur player at the Major tournament which saw the best players in the world compete last June.

Scott finished the tournament on +8, three strokes ahead of fellow amateur qualifiers Jacob Skov Olesen of Denmark and Tommy Morrison of the United States to claim the historic accolade.

He was one of only four amateur players to make the cut at the halfway stage of the competition.

Scott got off to a great start in the first round finishing on a level par (71) before a +4 (75) in the second round as he managed to make the cut for the final rounds. His best performance came in the third round when he scored a -1 (70) to leave him on +3. A nervy final round saw him score +5 (76) to finish the tournament on +8.

Speaking to the Inverness Courier after the tournament, Scott said winning the Silver Medal gave him the confidence to turn professional once he completed his university studies.

He joins a prestigious list of names, such as Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Tiger Woods to win the Silver Medal.

Scott qualified to play at The Open after finishing top of the the Open Amateur Series last year.

The former Nairn Academy pupil is now in his final year at Texas Tech University in Lubbock in the United States studying Sports Management.
