Chris Stewart says he is looking forward to leading Clachnacuddin into a successful new chapter after being appointed as the club’s new chairman.

The Highland Electrical Services director was confirmed as the new head of the board at Grant Street Park.

Stewart (33) will take over as chairman from Alex Chisholm who stood down at Grant Street Park at the end of last season.

He says it is a huge honour to be appointed chairman at Grant Street Park and is determined to help the club become a force in the Highland League once again.

“I have followed the club since I was a wee boy and it is an honour to be voted by board members to lead the club in what will be a new chapter for the football club and hopefully a successful one,” he said.

“Clachnacuddin is not a club which should ever be sitting second bottom of the Highland League and looking over their shoulder.”

“We have met different business people over the last few weeks who have shown an interest in coming in. Everyone says that Clach is a sleeping giant and we are. But we have been sleeping too long. Now it is a case of being successful on the park because that is what we want. We want Clach back at the top end of the table, chasing trophies as that is what we are all about.“

Clachnacuddin finished second bottom of the Highland League last season and Stewart says everyone is actively looking for change to improve fortunes of the club on the pitch as well as off it.

“We are looking at several different things and the business model to increase revenue to put us in a strong position going forward. I am a great believer if you keep doing the same things, you will get the same results. We are actively putting a new business model in place, We needed changes and fresh ideas, we needed a lift.”

Stewart has been working closely with first team manager Conor Gethins about what he is looking at to improve the club.

With it also confirmed Grant Munro is joining Clach as a director of football, Stewart is confident Munro and Gethins will make a good team to improving the team’s fortunes.

Stewart said: “Conor is on the phone every day to me.

He is working closely with Grant, he is relentless, he doesn’t switch off, he is looking at what sort of player he can take in. He has been a breath of fresh air since he has come in.

“Grant has set a high bar of expectations. Second best isn’t acceptable, him and Connor working closely will be a good combination for the club.”
