POLL: Fans split on proposal to allow Rangers and Celtic colt teams into Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) next season but majority want Highland and Lowland League teams to step up to League 2
A proposal to bring Rangers and Celtic B teams along with Highland and Lowland League outfits into League 2 has gained some support from north football fans.
However, more people would like to see sides like Brora Rangers and Kelty Hearts elevated to Scottish football's fourth tier than the Old Firm kids.
Talks have begun on a proposal to bring in six clubs to League 2 next season, with Rangers and Celtic's under-20 teams, two Highland League and two Lowland League clubs added to the existing ten.
Highland News and Media held a poll across our websites, giving supporters four options to vote on.
It was a close run thing, with the option to approve the 16-club League 2 proposal just gaining the most support from 34 per cent of those who voted.
But only 5 per cent chose the option to allow just Rangers and Celtic into the division, with the remaining 61 per cent preferring to have an SPFL without Old Firm colt teams.
Nearly a third said Scottish football should stay as it is without any reconstruction, and 30 per cent said Highland and Lowland League clubs should gain entry but not the Glasgow giants.
