The competition, which was first launched last year, will see players compete in seven rounds at golf courses across the north.

The league is open to professional and amateur players, both men and women and will be held between April and October.

Each round will be played over the course of the calendar month at each venue with tee times that are available.

Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club will start the competition in April. Tain Golf Club will host the second round of the competition in May.

Buckpool Golf Club will host the third round in June with Nairn Dunbar Golf Club hosting the fourth round in July.

The final three rounds take place at Moray New Golf Club in Lossiemouth in August, Spey Bay Golf Club in Fochabers in September and Elgin Golf Club in October.

Tour organiser Neil Watt says the league was first organised last year due to a demand from golfers based in the north to play in more competitions.

He says after a successful event last year, where around 40 players took part, they are now looking forward to another exciting league..

He said: “I was speaking to golfers at a number of clubs that they felt they did not play enough golf.

“So I pulled together an idea to get professionals and low handicap players to compete with each other. But at the same time, I wanted to create a competition that was as flexible as possible.

“There are similar tours and leagues across Scotland, but generally they are more central belt based.

“When I came up with the idea, everyone was keen to take part. Last year was a pilot and we went across the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire.

“We got some feedback from the players that played last year and I pulled together a schedule for this summer.”

The competition takes the form of an order of merit where players accumulate points based on their position.

Cash prizes will also be available during every round. Watt says the aim of the league is to give a boost to golf courses as well as create more competitive opportunities.

He said: “We just want to get people on golf courses, support golf clubs and support male and female players by giving them some competitive golf.

“We are not asking for three hours on a Saturday or a Sunday, tee times will be available across the month.

“The clubs have done a lot to make the league happen.”

Registration for the North of Scotland Golf League will open on Saturday, March 1. For more information visit the competition’s Facebook site.
