Third team could be on the cards for successful Highland
HIGHLAND may consider setting up a third team to enter the RBS Caledonia Division Three North West after the Reds won promotion with a 34-7 play-off victory against Deeside.
The Inverness club’s second team defeated the Division Three North East champions without having to recruit any of the Greens players, showing the squad strength in depth.
Highland’s cruised to a 29-0 half-time lead and never looked back.
The Highand pack provided a solid base for the backs and all the scores came from them, with two tries each from John MacLennan and Rupenis Rokoduguni and one from Ewen Campbell.
Tougher games in a higher division are set to see the more players being able to make the step up to the Greens if called on and may allow the club to look at launching a third team, if enough players are available.
