WATCH: Champion moves up a Gear to win first Scottish Squash Open title in Inverness

GRACE Gear cruised to her first Scottish Squash Open title when she claimed victory in Inverness on Sunday afternoon.

The number two seed from England proved too good for unseeded Asia Harris, also from England, in the final when she claimed victory 3-0 in just 26 minutes.

Gear was clinical in the opening game as she stormed to a 11-2 win. Harris, competing in her biggest ever PSA final – started to get into the match in the second game, but couldn’t stop Gear from doubling her advantage 11-6.

Gear maintained her composure in the third game which she claimed 11-6 to win the title.

Gear finished runner-up at the 2021 Scottish Squash Open in Inverness and was delighted to go one better.

She said on court after her match: "It feels incredible.

“I had a tough set of matches to get through to the final, and I didn’t come here with any expectations.

“I was trying to keep the ball out of the middle and I think I did that really well in the first two.

“I kind of lost it a bit in the third, but managed to get it back and happy to win in three.”
