WATCH: Spanish athlete wins Scottish Squash Open in Inverness for second time
EDMON Lopez came from behind to win the Scottish Squash Open in Inverness for the second time in his career.
The Spaniard defeated Ben Smith from England 3-1 after 64 minutes in a brutal final at Inverness Tennis and Squash Club on Sunday afternoon.
Lopez last won the Scottish Squash Open in 2019, but he went into the tournament unseeded due to a significant period out injured.
He upset top seed Rory Stewart from Perth in the quarter final before defeating Kareem El Torkey from Egypt in the semi final yesterday.
Lopez fell behind losing the first game 11-9 to Smith, but he came back strongly to win the second and third game 11-8, 11-8.
He then raced into a 6-1 lead in the fourth and despite Smith fighting back to make it 8-5, Lopez regained his composure to win 11-6.
Speaking after his win, Lopez says the Scottish Squash Open has become a special competition for him.

He said: "I am really happy for winning in Scotland, it feels like home now.
"I was exhausted but I tried to keep pushing and not falling down mentally after yesterday's match which was brutal.
"I didn't know I was pushing to that level, but these matches are helping me become more fit and to perform that thrills me.
"It was not an easy draw as I had to beat Martin Ross and Rory Stewart on the way.
"I am happy to beat some of the top players in the world."
