Inverness has seven artificial pitches - We reveal how many times they have been booked in 2024
ARTIFICIAL pitches in Inverness were booked over 5000 times during 2024 it has been revealed.
A freedom of information request to High Life Highland has disclosed there were 5138 bookings made at the city’s seven artificial pitches made between January 1 and December 31 last year.
Inverness Royal Academy Sports Centre was the most used artificial pitch in the city last year with 1701 bookings.
A number of primary schools accounted for the bookings such as Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis, Cauldeen, Holm and Lochardil.
Shinty clubs such as Boleskine, Glengarry and Inverness also use the pitches with Highland League club Rothes and football club Balloan also booked the pitch for training.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle Community Trust and Inverness Caledonian Thistle Youth Academy along with Inverness Caledonian Thistle Women also booked the facility.
Canal Park was the second most used artificial pitch in Inverness last year with 897 bookings.
Highland Rugby Club play their home matches and train at the venue with Inverness Caledonian Thistle also using the facility for training.
Highland League club Clachnacuddin also use the venue for training along with football schools such as Mike Fraser Goalkeeping Academy and Rangers FC Soccer Academy making use of the facility.
Millburn Academy was third with 835 bookings last year with both Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Inverness Caledonian Thistle Women using the facility.
North Caledonian League club Inverness Athletic, Ross County Girls and Women and Highland League clubs Forres Mechanics and Strathspey Thistle also booked the facility last year for training.
Charleston Academy had 600 bookings in 2024 with Highland League clubs Brora Rangers, Rothes and Strathspey Thistle all using the facility for training.
Clachnacuddin and Inverness Caledonian Thistle along with youth club Balloan also used the artificial pitch for training.
Bught Astro had 416 bookings last year, with Highland Hockey Club the most prominent users of the facility.
Milton of Leys Primary School had 374 bookings with High Life Highland Active Schools the most prominent user of the facility.
Merkinch Primary School had 315 bookings last year with youth clubs mostly using the facility.
