Book Club investigates Other Worlds
The Big Scottish Book Club is going stellar with renowned fantasy author Neil Gaiman, whose works include The Sandman, Stardust, Coraline and Good Omens.
Also joining host Damian Barr at a suitably socially distant recording in Lanark’s Memorial Hall – in line with industry guidelines - are novelist Kirsty Logan, who will be talking about her unnerving collection of short stories entitled Things We Say in the Dark, and Gavin Francis, who combines being a GP with writing, discussing his book Island Dreams about our fascination with islands.
Neil Gaiman will be chatting about his novel The Graveyard Book, which is also going to be the subject for a local book club – on this occasion from Cumbernauld - to comment on.
The theme of the episode is Other Worlds.
And, as in the first series, there will be a poignant reading from a poet rounding up each programme.
Doing the honours in this series opener is spoken word writer and performer Harry Josephine Giles, from Orkney.
Says Damian: “Reading is all about escape and in this week's show we’re going to take you away from all this - to Other Worlds, real and imagined...”
The Big Scottish Book Club is on BBC Scotland on Sunday, November 1 at 10pm.
