Classical violinist Eve took a bow with Rod Stewart
VIOLINIST Eve Kennedy has played to 16,000 Rod Stewart fans, but on Friday 21st September she takes centre stage as a soloist at Inverness’s Spectrum Centre.
The Greenock musician, who is a graduate of Glasgow’s Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, is also a founder member of the Astrid Quartet, who have been regular visitors to the Highlands, but has now decided to focus on her solo career.
A regular member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, she has taken her music as far as the exotic Indian Ocean island of Mauritius with NYOS chamber ensemble Camerata Scotland.
Last summer she took a break from her usual classical repertoire to join the string section at Rod Stewart’s shows in Glasgow, Falkirk, Newcastle and Blackpool, and had a chance to meet the tartan loving rocker, whom she describes as "a very nice guy."
She has also performed alongside Canadian crooner Michael Bublé, but Friday’s At One With Music lunchtime performance sees her back in the classical world with a programme of European music from Russian, Czech and Norwegian composers.
Accompanied by pianist Christina Lawrie, another regular Inverness visitor who has played for At One With Music three times before, Kennedy will perform Alfred Schnittke’s Suite in the Old Style for violin and piano; Antonin Dvorak’s Romance for violin and piano and Edvard Grieg’s Sonata No 3 in C minor for violin and piano.
Doors open at 12.30pm and the concert starts at 1pm and will last about 55 minutes.
Admission costs £6 for adults and £1 for children.
