SAY Award longlisted Niteworks bring their fusion of Scottish traditional and dance music back to the Ironworks, Inverness this November
SKYE trad/dance hybrid Niteworks have been announced for a return to the Highlands in November for an Ironworks headliner.
The four-piece – Innes Strachan, Allan MacDonald, Christopher Nicolson and Ruairidh Graham – will play the Inverness venue once more on Friday, November 29.
Friends from school on the Isle of Skye, they fuse Gaelic language and traditional music with electronic influences to create their sound.
Their first release – Niteworks: Obair Oidhche EP – came in 2011 and quickly set Celtic dancefloors ablaze, with the band winning Up and Coming Artist of the Year at the 2012 Scottish Trad Awards.
In November 2015 the band released their debut album, NW. A collaborative affair, the album features vocals from Kathleen MacInnes and instrumental contributions from Mairearad Green, Fiona Macaskill, Andrew MacPherson and Hamish Napier.
A whole host of other Scottish singing talent also appeared, including a sampled appearance from the legendary Gaelic poet Sorley MacLean.
Last year saw the release of sophomore album Air Fàir an Là, which was longlisted for this year's SAY Award and saw appearances from artists including traditional singing legend Julie Fowlis and Gaelic-voiced singing trio Sian.
