Dancing On Ice winner Gary Lucy is to lead an all-star cast for The Fully Monty at His Majesty’s Theatre next spring.

Also baring all in the stage-version of the smash-hit 90s movie about a group of out-of-work Sheffield steelworkers will be Andrew Dunn, Louis Emerick, Rupert Hill, Martin Miller and Bobby Schofield.

The 1997 British film took the world by storm becoming one of the most successful British films ever made, and the Oscar-winning writer of the film Simon Beaufoy has gone all the way with this hilarious and heartfelt adaptation that’s getting standing ovations around the country.

Playing Gax, Gary is best know for his roles in EastEnders, Footballer’s Wives and The Bill, as well as his fancy footwork which won him the top title in Dancing On Ice.

Andrew is best known for playing Tony in Dinnerladies as well for his regular appearances playing Alistair Campbell on Bremner, Bird and Fortune, while Louis is known as Mick Johnson in Brookside and PC Walsh in Last Of The Summer Wine, a role he has played, on and off, for over 20 years.

Martin’s recent credits include Hitchcock in the New York production of The Lovesong of Alfred J Hitchcock and Rupert is best known as Jamie Baldwin in Coronation Street. Bobby is making his stage debut as Lomper.

The production also features the iconic songs from the film by Donna Summer, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones.

The production will be staged at His Majesty’s Theatre from Monday, March 30 to Saturday, April 4 next year and tickets are available online at www.aberdeenperformingarts.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre.

Aberdeen Performing Arts press manager Joyce Summers said the theatre was delighted to be welcoming the big name cast for a week-long run from March 30 next year.

“Gary, Andrew and Louis are such well-known and popular faces we are used to seeing on our TVs at home.

“Their arrival in The Full Monty will give fans the chance to see even more of them in the flesh . . . in the best possible taste, of course!”

The Full Monty is Simon Beaufoy’s first work for the theatre but his screen credits include winning the BAFTA for The Full Monty, 127 Hours, Salmon Fishing In The Yemen, Slumdog Millionaire and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

This new production is directed by award winning director Roger Haines, whose recent credits include the world premiere of the musical The Go-Between which won the UK Theatre Awards best musical award and the national tour of Calendar Girls.

The original production of The Full Monty won the UK Theatre Award for best touring production and was directed by Daniel Evans.

This Sheffield Theatre’s production is presented by David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers, the multi-award winning producers of ‘Art’, Brief Encounter, God Of Carnage and Calendar Girls.
