The Great Food Guys back in action in Aberdeenshire
A fresh series of The Great Food Guys, with Nick Nairn and Dougie Vipond, is coming to BBC Scotland.
In the wake of the first series being screened on network BBC One on Saturdays, Scotland is to be treated to a new second series of the cooking show with chef Nick and presenter Dougie over the summer.
The duo will be celebrating the fantastic range of food and drink Scotland has to offer in their country kitchen, located in Fettercairn in Aberdeenshire.
Says Dougie: “We are back at our countryside kitchen to cook some great food inspired by our road trips.”
In this opening episode of the eight-part series, they’re looking at Asian Fusion and are cooking up Salt Chilli Squid with a Vietnamese Dipping Sauce.
Joining them in the kitchen are award winning chef, Kaori Simpson from the Harajuku Kitchen in Edinburgh and actor Greg McHugh (Gary Tank Commander, The A Word) who brings along his choice of craft beer to accompany the food.
Recorded before lockdown restrictions took effect, the programme will also feature sample sessions – out on the road with the Landward van - with locals in North Berwick and Moffat, a trip to a farm growing Asian veg in East Lothian and Dougie getting hot about chillies in Langholm in Dumfriesshire.
Other guests will include crime writer Val McDermid, Still Game’s Jane McCarry, comedian farmer Jim Smith, TV presenter JJ Chalmers, Call the Midwife’s Laura Main, River City’s Sanjeev Kohli and weather presenter Judith Ralston.
The Great Food Guys will air on Thursday, July 9 on BBC Scotland at 8pm and will also go out on BBC One on Saturday, July 11 at 11.30am.
