Writer Kenneth Steven will read new work at Inverness event
KENNETH Steven – poet, novelist, author of children’s and non-fiction books - visits Inverness on Tuesday, March 21 to read from new work.
His earlier poems have an emphasis on the human relationship with the natural world, and on the spiritual life of the early Celtic Church in Scotland, focused on Iona.
Kenneth will be reading from his work, especially from his new collection of poems Letting in the Light.
Its major theme is the poet’s journey through the darkness of marriage breakdown and divorce - and his encounter with the light which shines through the cracks our pain opens up within us.
Kenneth will be discussing the relationship between spirituality and creativity and the power of words to hea.
There will be an interlude with traditional Scottish music.
Kenneth has two new books appearing this spring.
A new novel, 2020 due to be released in May, which addresses what happens, in a UK "sorely divided, to empathy and tolerance, to generosity of spirit? And can hope survive?".
Kenneth has also edited an anthology of Scottish religious poetry which which will be published in June.
Kenneth's event is at 7.30pm in Hilton Church of Scotland on Tomatin Road on Tuesday, March 21.
All are welcome and the event is free.
