National Youth Choir of Scotland heading for Inverness Cathedral next weekend
After a gap of almost two years due to pandemic restrictions, group singing has made a return for the National Youth Choir of Scotland with an appearance in Inverness this month.
They are due to perform at Inverness Cathedral on Saturday, August 20 – they are also due to appear at Stirling, Paisley and in Edinburgh, as part of the Festival Fringe.
The concert by the acclaimed youth choir will feature Duruflé’s superlative Requiem and it is due to open with Rejoice in the Lamb and Benjamin Britten’s superb setting of Jubilate Agno.
A spokeswoman said: “The performance’s centrepiece: Maurice Duruflé’s mighty Requiem is one of the glories of choral repertoire and one of his few completed works surviving for posterity.
“Dedicated to the memory of the composer’s father, this profoundly beautiful, emotionally shattering and wonderfully atmospheric piece never fails to make an impact.”
• Tickets for the tour are on sale now and can be bought at the choir's website.
