A vote check - technically called an accountancy check - is underway for Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire seat.

A discrepancy was found between the verified vote tally and the actual vote tally.

That means that the actual total votes and those verified as acceptable do not match meaning the counters have to go over the them again - it is expected this will take around 30 minutes.

This does not constitute a recount but if it results in that then it is estimated that the delay would be another 90 minutes on top of that so at this stage it could be 9am before we know the winner.
