The Eastgate Shopping Centre’s food court alcohol sales licence bid is set for decision as the move by Scott Murray’s CRU Holdings goes before Highland Council.

The company took over from food service provider Aramark UK’s Loch & Larder shut down in February just two years after opening and aims to rejuvenate the offering amid competition from the Victorian Market.

The granting of an alcohol licence may offer just the boost CRU Holding needs as it wants to offer both on and off sales between the hours of 11am and 10pm, seven days a week.

It is not yet known what hours the food court intends to operate, or the intended nature of its alcohol sales or whether it intends to open as late as the licence hours would allow.

There were zero objections to the application from Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service or the Council’s Community Services and Planning and Building Standards all of whom were consulted.

Highland Council’s licensing board will decide the issue on Tuesday.
