Highland Council Election: The full slate of those standing is released while it also shows a wave of councillors standing down
The full list of candidates seeking to represent the Inverness and area at Highland Council has been confirmed by the local authority.
In all there are eight wards across the wider Inverness area – Aird and Loch Ness; Inverness West; Inverness Central; Inverness Ness-side; Inverness Millburn; Culloden and Ardersier; Nairn and Cawdor; and Inverness South.
The votes in each ward have attracted 59 candidates vying for 27 seats making them some of the most contested areas in the whole region.
The full slate of those standing is released while it also shows a wave of councillors standing down including big names like the current council leader Margaret Davidson and Labour group leader Jimmy Gray.
Voters will go to the polls on May 5 to elect a new Highland Council.
