Police Scotland have confirmed that a woman in Nairn was traced safely after local concerns when a helicopter was heard apparently conducting a search over the town on Friday.

Some residents reported they had been told of a missing child but that was confirmed not to be accurate and in fact the search was for an adult woman.

Police received a report of a concern for person at about 9pm about the woman near the pier in Nairn but she was later traced.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We had a concern for person call around 9pm last night near the pier in Nairn but it was for an adult woman who has since been traced”.
