What is going on at Inverness Caley Thistle? There has been no statement from officials about the club’s future for 12 days
The silence from Caley Thistle about its future, its leadership, or financial viability since May 24 – all of 12 days ago – is deafening and for many fans it is as worrying as it is frustrating.
Despite a flurry of urgent questions like whether the club can continue or enter administration, go part time or remain full-time, move training to Fife or stay in the Highlands – one above all rises to the top: what is going on?
This afternoon the club even suffered a friendly fire incident as its associated charitable trust said: “We shall not be moved,” adding: “Inverness is the ICT Community Development Trust's home and always will be.”
Meanwhile it has now emerged that a meeting with the Supporters Trust on Monday evening was cancelled – which would be the most obvious point to start building bridges. There is no word yet on whether it will be rescheduled.
The most significant development in that period was when Ross Morrison spoke to The Inverness Courier to announce that he had resigned and the only other announcement was about the fixtures for the Premier Sports Cup at the end of May.
Prior to that, there were two statements: the first on May 21 was from the former chairman expressing how “hugely disappointing” relegation is “for everyone associated with the club, and we were all totally devastated.”
The other announced the controversial plans to move the training to Kelty Hearts and effectively poured oil on the flames of fan discontent over the relegation and sparked the current crisis.
Since then: nothing.
There has been no statement from the board or chief executive Scot Gardiner, no update from the emergency board meeting that took place on Monday evening and word of there could be some developments on Tuesday did not transpire.
In the information vacuum fans, Invernessians and others have been left guessing as rumours multiply many of them contradictory.
