Youths with lasers cause alarm in the Chapel Street area of Inverness in the latest anti-social behaviour incident
Youths with lasers cause alarm and police involvement on Friday in the Chapel Street area of Inverness, in what is the latest incident of anti-social behaviour in the city.
Just before 6pm on Friday “youths seen with lasers” leading police check CCTV but there was no sign of them and there were “no further incidents”.
Concerns are mounting about the behaviour after a spate of recent incidents that have caused anger and worry for people, particularly in the city centre.
The most recent incident was reported yesterday when two young people were filmed on Snapchat vandalising gravestones, police are investigating.
This week it was revealed that HiTrans e-bikes would return after £100,000 of damage by vandals saw the service suspended for a month.
Late last month, reckless e-bike joyriders prompted fears of death or serious injury in the city centre over ‘boy racer’ youths hurtling at high speeds on the heavy bicycles.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.50pm on Friday, 26 July, 2024, we received a report of youths seen with lasers in the area of Chapel Street, Inverness.
"There was no trace of the youths following a check of CCTV and no further incidents reported. Local patrol officers were made aware of this incident and advice was given to the reporter."
